Notes of Interest
● North Wilkesboro Speedway returns to the NASCAR Cup Series calendar this weekend, marking the first points-paying race at the historic 0.625-mile short track since September 1996.
● Sunday’s race is the first Cup Series event longer than 400 laps at North Wilkesboro since 1974.
● In 93 points-paying NASCAR Cup Series races held at North Wilkesboro Speedway, Chevrolet has recorded a series-leading 32 victories.
● Standard Nuclear experienced its own excitement away from the track this week, debuting on the New York Stock Exchange under the ticker symbol “STDN”. With the support of public market investors, they are focused on scaling domestic TRISO fuel production and advancing the future of nuclear energy.
By the Numbers
● Cole Custer has recorded two top-20 finishes in his last three Cup Series starts, including an impressive last-lap dash a week ago at EchoPark Speedway that saw him collect eight positions en route to a 17th-place finish.
● Custer makes his first points-paying Cup Series start at North Wilkesboro this weekend after finishing ninth in last season’s All-Star Open at the track in his only other Cup Series appearance.
● NASCAR Cup Series teams will run the same Goodyear Racing Eagle tire setup at North Wilkesboro Speedway this weekend as they ran at Martinsville Speedway in March. This short track tire setup debuted at Martinsville’s 2025 fall race and returned this spring. The right-side tire has also raced at Bowman Gray Stadium and Phoenix Raceway this year. Each team will receive nine sets for the race (eight race sets plus one set transferred from qualifying)
