Notes of Interest

● Dubbed the track ‘Too Tough to Tame’, Darlington Raceway hosts the sixth race on the 2026 NASCAR Cup Series schedule this weekend.

● Darlington Raceway was built as a 1.25-mile paved superspeedway in 1949-1950. The track was re-measured to 1.375 miles in 1953. The track was reconfigured to 1.366 miles following the spring race in 1970.

● The second-closest finish in NASCAR history occurred at Darlington Raceway in March 2003, when Ricky Craven took the checkered flag ahead of Kurt Busch by 0.002 seconds.

● David Pearson holds the records for the most poles and wins, recording 10 and 12, respectively.

● Each team gets 11 sets of Goodyear Racing Eagle tires for the race (10 race sets plus one set transferred from qualifying).

By the Numbers

● Cole Custer makes his 10th Cup Series start at Darlington this weekend, where he has a 22.0 average finish. 

● The Ladera Ranch, Calif., native has started inside the top 15 twice at Darlington Raceway, with a career-best 14th in 2020.
