Notes of Interest

● Felix Rosenqvist will run a special Texas A&M University livery in this weekend’s inaugural edition of the Java House Grand Prix of Arlington, as the NTT INDYCAR SERIES wraps up a season-opening triple-header of races with one of the most anticipated events on the calendar.

● The collaboration comes as Texas A&M University builds momentum toward celebrating its 150th anniversary in 2026. As the university approaches its historic milestone, Rosenqvist’s No. 60 Texas A&M University Honda will help spotlight Texas A&M University as a Force for Good in Texas—the No. 1 research university and the No. 1 public university in the state, with a mission and footprint that serves Texans in all 254 counties.

● The Java House Grand Prix of Arlington will be the first NTT INDYCAR SERIES event on the streets of Arlington. However, it’s not the first time that INDYCAR SERIES cars have raced in Arlington, Texas. Arlington Downs Racetrack, a 1-mile dirt oval whose site is less than a half-mile from the current racetrack, held three points-paying races and two non-championship sweepstakes races from 1947 to 1950.

● The Streets of Arlington is the fourth road or street circuit to debut on the NTT INDYCAR SERIES calendar since 2021.

● INDYCAR will use an updated race qualifying format on the streets of Arlington. For NTT INDYCAR SERIES qualifying, the “knockout” format of Segments 1 and 2 will remain unchanged. The Firestone Fast Six segment will be adjusted to single-car, single-lap qualifying, beginning with the sixth-fastest qualifier from Segment 2 and working toward the fastest from the previous round. During the Firestone Fast Six at Arlington, drivers will leave pit lane and get an opportunity for one lap – starting and ending at the alternate start/finish line. Once the car enters pit lane following that driver’s attempt, the next car will be released for its attempt. Tire allotments and tire rules will remain unchanged throughout the event.

● In addition to its primary sponsorship of the No. 60 Meyer Shank Racing entry in Arlington, Texas A&M University continues as a partner of Felix Rosenqvist for the 2026 season, riding along on his helmet for the second consecutive year. Designed specifically for how INDYCAR is televised, the helmet placement is intended to show up repeatedly on FOX’s onboard cameras and tight close-up coverage, placing Texas A&M inside the broadcast during moments of performance, pressure and decision-making across 18 race weekends.

By the Numbers

● Rosenqvist is competing in his eighth season of INDYCAR competition, and his third for Meyer Shank Racing.

● Rosenqvist has established himself as one of INDYCAR’s premier qualifiers on road and street circuits, earning multiple pole positions and front-row starts at technical venues including the Indianapolis Motor Speedway road course and Long Beach. He has been a consistent Fast Six qualifier on road and street circuits.

● Push-to-Pass Parameters: 200 seconds of total time with a maximum time of 20 seconds per activation.

● Drivers receive unlimited hybrid energy deployment activation, with a maximum deployment of 150 kilojoules (kj) per lap.

● Firestone Tire Allotment: Each team receives five sets of primary tires and five sets of alternate tires to be used during the event weekend. Teams fielding a rookie driver may use one additional set of primary tires. Teams must use one set of primary and two sets of alternate tires for at least two laps during the race.

Felix Rosenqvist, No. 60 Texas A&M University Honda

Your Texas A&M livery for the Grand Prix of Arlington has been well-received, and they have been a personal partner of yours since last year, so it must be fun to now see them on your car.

I think it’s really awesome that Texas A&M University has shown me so much support over the last year, and to have them come back on board and showcase a full livery for the Texas weekend is really cool to see. With how much Texas A&M is leaning into this season, we’ll do everything we can to deliver a good result for them come Sunday.”

This is the first INDYCAR SERIES race on the Streets of Arlington. Does that provide a certain level of excitement for you and the team?

”I am so pumped for Arlington. There’s always something special with a brand-new track that no one has set foot on before. I really love the challenge of trying to figure it out behind the wheel, and also with the engineers. The tweak to the Fast Six format also has me quite excited – I like that we’re trialling something like that to highlight the on-the-edge driving that segment promotes.”
