● The NTT INDYCAR SERIES descends upon the nation’s capital this weekend for the inaugural Freedom 250 Grand Prix of Washington, D.C. The historic event brings INDYCAR racing to the National Mall for the first time as part of the celebration of America’s 250th anniversary. The 250-mile race distance makes it the second-longest street or temporary circuit race in INDYCAR SERIES history.
● Texas A&M University will serve as the primary sponsor of Indianapolis 500 winner Felix Rosenqvist’s No. 60 Meyer Shank Racing Honda this weekend. This builds on Texas A&M’s partnership with Rosenqvist and Meyer Shank Racing at the historic Indianapolis 500 while connecting the university’s approaching 150th anniversary, America’s 250th milestone, and a public-purpose message centered on trust, service, leadership, and national impact.
● Rosenqvist’s car features a patriotic design built around a message: Together, We Stand as a Force for Good. The car combines Texas A&M’s iconic maroon with red, white and blue and American flag-inspired graphics.
● The 1.7-mile Freedom 250 Grand Prix street circuit will feature racing on a sweeping .4-mile frontstretch along Pennsylvania Avenue, framed by the Washington Monument and the U.S. Capitol. Pit lane is adjacent to Pennsylvania Avenue, between Turns 1 and 2. The INDYCAR field will also race by the Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum, the National Gallery of Art and the National Archives on the challenging and picturesque course layout.
● Experiencing excitement away from the track, Texas A&M University has risen to No. 6 in the world in the American Caldwell 2026–27 Global University Visibility (GUV) Rankings — up 15 spots from 2024. Texas A&M ranks No. 5 among all U.S. universities, No. 2 among U.S. public universities and No. 1 overall in Texas in the 2026–2027 rankings, making it one of the world’s most talked about, searched, visited, followed and watched institutions of higher education.
By the Numbers
● Currently eighth in the NTT INDYCAR SERIES Championship Standings, Felix Rosenqvist has recorded five finishes of eighth or better in his last eight starts, including his Indianapolis 500 win on May 24.
● There have been seven winners in the INDYCAR SERIES’ 14 races this season, including Rosenqvist and his exciting win at the 110th Running of the Indianapolis 500.
