DILLON AND GEICO MILITARY TEAM CONQUER ROVAL WITH ANOTHER TOP-15 FINISH

At a point in the season when NASCAR Cup Series teams are often working to maintain morale, Germain Racing is instead thriving. They have continued their solid year into the final turn of the 2019 season. Ty Dillon and the GEICO team have posted three top-15 finishes and three top-20 finishes in six of their last seven starts. Consistency can often be elusive in auto racing, but Germain Racing is encroaching on the ever-fickle creature.

Blazing heat offered a cruel welcome to NASCAR Cup Series drivers as they climbed into their cars on Sunday. Dillon, known for his intense physical training, feared not as he buckled into his No. 13 GEICO Military Camaro ZL1. When someone mentioned the excessive heat, Dillon confidently responded with: "This is what I train for." His training certainly paid off over the 248.5-miles that would test the entire field.

Despite the heat, fans from all 50 states and 20 different countries packed into Charlotte Motor Speedway to take in racing action on the 2.28-mile, 17-turn Roval. When the green flag gave way to 109-laps of racing, Dillon started his journey from the 29th position. The GEICO Military Camaro broke into the top-25 in the opening laps and continued to ascend up the scoring tower. Early in the race, Dillon battled a tight handling condition, but still managed to hustle his way into the top-20 by lap 20.

Crew chief, Matt Borland, and the Germain Racing pit crew made adjustments to the GEICO Military Camaro and Dillon quickly found himself charging to the front of the field. He was in the 18th position when stage two got underway and was up to 14th by lap 46. Dillon took up residence in the top-15 for the bulk of the afternoon and relented only when needing to visit pit road for service. During each pit stop, the Germain Racing crew was expeditious in their efforts, quickly returning the No. 13 GEICO Military Camaro ZL1 to the racing surface.

When the checkered flag waved over the field, Dillon and his No. 13 GEICO Military Camaro ZL1 collected an impressive 15th place finish, marking a notable 14-position improvement in a race where 33 cars remained on the lead lap. Dillon's result accounts for Germain Racing's eighth top-15 finish of the 2019 NASCAR Cup Series season.

"It was definitely a hot one out there today. I had been looking forward to this race for a while now and I felt that our Germain Racing team could have a really strong day if we kept ourselves out of trouble," Dillon said after climbing from his car. "The Roval is so unique and in order to be successful, you have to survive. The GEICO Camaro ZL1 started out very tight early on, but we steadily made adjustments to get the car handling better and better. Matt (Borland) and I discussed pit strategy a few times and I think it ended up working out well for us. To come home with a solid 15th-place finish is a good day for our team and I'm proud of all my guys for battling all weekend."

Germain Racing will now pack up their No. 13 entry and head to Dover, DE, for race number 30 of the 2019 NASCAR Cup Series season.

Ty Dillon and the No. 13 GEICO Camaro ZL1 will hit the track at Dover Speedway for the weekend's opening practice session on Friday, October 4th, at 1:35 PM (ET). Qualifying will follow on Saturday at 1:35 PM (ET).

The Drydene 400 Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series race is on Sunday, October 6th, and it will be televised live on NBCSN beginning at 2:30 PM (ET). The Motor Racing Network (MRN) will carry the live radio broadcast, along with SiriusXM NASCAR Radio, channel 90.
