TY DILLON HUSTLES TO 22ND PLACE FINISH AT RICHMOND

Player Management International Media Release

Richmond, VA (September 9, 2017) – Germain Racing has found themselves in the middle of their most exciting Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series season since the inception of the program in 2009.  Ty Dillon has posted 16 top-20 finishes in the first 25 races of his rookie campaign and aimed to continue his success when race number 26 got underway in Richmond, VA.

Qualifying left the Sunoco Rookie of the Year contender starting from the 32nd position, but Dillon quickly began pedaling the No. 13 GEICO Chevrolet SS forward when the green flag set the field underway in front of a packed house at Richmond Raceway.  Business picks up quickly at the ¾-mile oval and as the GEICO Chevy battled for positions under the lights on Saturday night, Dillon would face a handling condition, while tire-wear would also come into play during the race.  The Germain Racing pit crew made adjustments to the GEICO machine during pit stops and Dillon continued to collect positions and ultimately broke into the top-20.

At a track where passing is at a premium, Dillon gathered up ten spots and crossed the finish line in the 22nd position when the checkered flag brought the field to a halt after an exciting overtime finish.

“We worked on this GEICO Chevrolet SS all weekend. I thought maybe we’d learned something last night that could help us tonight, but it turned out that chassis adjustments didn’t apply tonight,” Dillon said following the race.  “The pit crew turned in some great stops tonight and we made some positive adjustments to the car, we just didn’t have the lateral grip we needed.  It was a tough night, but we battled through it and this Germain Racing team will be better when we come back here next year.  I have to give a shout out to the guys over at RCR (Richard Childress Racing).  It’s great to see two RCR Chevys make the playoffs.”

As the season begins to wind down, Germain Racing will now pack up and head to the Windy City for race number 27 of the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series season.

Ty Dillon and the No. 13 GEICO Chevrolet SS will hit the track at Chicagoland Speedway for the weekend’s opening practice session on Friday, September 15th, at 12:30 PM (ET).  Qualifying will follow at 6:45 PM (ET).

The Tales of the Turtle 400 Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series race is on Sunday, September 17th, and it will be televised live on NBCSN beginning at 3:00 PM (ET).  The Motor Racing Network (MRN) will carry the live radio broadcast, along with SiriusXM NASCAR Radio, channel 90.
