TODD BODINE CELEBRATES LONGEVITY IN HOMESTEAD

Bodine To Compete in Nationwide Series for 19th Consecutive season

Player Management International Media Release

Homestead, FL (November 20, 2009) – Homestead is a special race for everyone in NASCAR, but for varying reasons.  For some, it marks the end of a long year, while others are seeking championship status.  Todd Bodine is obviously comfortable here because he has recorded two wins at the South Florida racetrack, where he took home the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series trophy in both 2005 and 2008 driving for Germain Racing.

While Bodine’s main focus is winning his second consecutive race here at Homestead-Miami Speedway tonight in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series in the #30 Copart Toyota Tundra, Saturday will also be special for the 2006 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series Champion.  It is a special day for Bodine because it will mark 19 consecutive years that he has competed in the NASCAR Nationwide Series, as he slides behind the wheel of the #42 Smith Ironworks Dodge in Saturday’s Ford 300.

Bodine, affectionately nicknamed ‘The Onion’, has achieved great success in NASCAR and will most certainly go down in racing history as one of the best to ever wheel a racecar around an oval track.  However, for Bodine personally, the greater success may be to have achieved longevity in a sport that sees drivers quickly move in and out as fast as the tide on South Beach.

When hope was fading, he persevered; when people doubted, he believed.  In a business that is mostly inconsistent, Bodine is consistent.  When fans show up at the track each week, they know they will see him race.  Even Bodine was moved emotionally when told of the milestone.

“It’s really special to think about being able to race in a series for 19 consecutive years, and I consider it a highlight of my career,” Bodine said.  “I got my start in the Nationwide Series in 1991 and consider it a great reason for the success that I have experienced.  I’ve also been surrounded by a lot of great people along the way who have allowed me to continue living my dream.  It’s great to be at the track each week and spend time with fans and then go out and put on a good show.”  He continued, “This weekend is special and I’m hoping to get it off to a great start tonight in the #30 Copart Toyota Tundra.”

When he stands on the starting grid on Saturday, Bodine will know in his heart that he won a different race, maybe even a more important race.  He won the race of longevity and will go down as not only being one of the best, but also one of the longest running drivers in NASCAR history.
