Mike Wallace Scores 15th in Michigan' Bristol Short Track Awaits the Gecko

Player Management International Media Release

Brooklyn, MI (August 16, 2008) – Mike Wallace arrived in Michigan fresh off his debut at the New York Stock Exchange where he and his daughter Chrissy rang the closing bell on Tuesday.  He was hoping to continue the exciting week when he hit the track in the Irish Hills of Michigan.

When the #7 GEICO Camry ended the first practice session, it would sit 22nd on the speed charts.  Final practice would find Wallace being fairly consistent, as he would rest in the 25th position when the red flag was displayed. Nothing if not consistent, Wallace would qualify in the 23rd position, just ahead of Bobby Hamilton, Jr.

When the green flag waved under perfect weather conditions, Wallace wasted little time in advancing through the field. Before the conclusion of the opening lap, Wallace and the #7 GEICO Camry moved up to the 20th position, picking up three positions on his first tour around the 2-mile facility. Wallace’s afternoon would provide a solid performance and the GEICO Camry would run in the Top 15, while at times flirting with the Top 10.

When the checkered flag was displayed after 250-miles of racing, Wallace and the #7 GEICO Camry would record a 15th place finish.  Although he still sits 8thin the point standings, Wallace’s Top 15 run moves him within 40 points of NASCAR superstar Kyle Busch, who rests in the 7th position.

“We had a nice solid day for GEICO, Sport Clips and Smith Transport,” Wallace said.  “We were able to put up a solid run and pick up ground in the point standings.  I have typically always fared well in Bristol, so we are looking forward to getting there next week and gaining on the Top 5 in the points.”

This week, Mike Wallace and the Germain Racing team will pack up the #7 GEICO Camry and prepare for some old school beating and banging as they head to Bristol Motor Speedway, the world’s fastest half-mile race track.  After finishing 10th in the April race in Bristol, Wallace and the gecko are looking forward to bettering themselves by nine positions and making their way to Victory Lane.

Mike Wallace and the #7 GEICO Camry will hit the track at Bristol Motor Speedway for their opening practice session on Friday, August 22nd, at 9:00 AM (ET), with the final practice session being held at 10:30 AM (ET). Qualifying will be held on Friday evening at 5:05 PM (ET).

The Food City 250 is on Friday, August 22nd, and it will be televised live on ESPN beginning at 7:30 PM (ET), while the Performance Racing Network (PRN) will carry the live radio broadcast.
