Mike Wallace Good for 17th in the Circle City; Heading to the Great White North

Player Management International Media Release

Indianapolis, IN (July 26, 2008) – Widely regarded as the Racing Capital of the World, Indianapolis offered Mike Wallace and the GEICO Racing team the opportunity to pick up spots in the point standings.  Indy always sports a packed house and carries the status of being one of the biggest races of the NASCAR season.

The weekend’s two practice sessions would find Wallace sitting 20th and 18th respectively. Qualifying would hold nearly true to the #7 GEICO Camry’s performance in practice, as Wallace would line up 24th on the grid.

Wallace would have to deal with family matters when the green flag dropped, as he would first need to pass his brother Kenny on the way to the front.  Pass him he did, and the #7 GEICO Camry would run solidly around the Top 15 for most of the evening.  Wallace would eye the Top 10, but eventually settle for a 17th place finish in the Midwest heat.

When the evening closed, Wallace still sat in the 8th position in the point standings.

“We were hoping for a better run here this evening, but it didn’t happen,” Wallace said.  “Regardless, the #7 GEICO Camry was able to record a solid finish and we maintained our position in the point standings.  We head to Montreal next week for a road course race, so I am looking forward to getting up there because we had a nice showing in Mexico City back in April.”

This week, the Germain Racing team heads north of the border to Montreal for the second road course race of the season.

Mike Wallace and the #7 GEICO Camry will hit the track at Circuit Gilles Villeneuve for their opening practice session on Friday, August 1st, at 10:45 AM (ET), with the final practice session being held at 2:00 PM (ET).  Qualifying will be held on Saturday afternoon at 12:10 PM (ET).

The NAPA Auto Parts 200 presented by Dodge is on Saturday, August 2nd, and it will be televised live on ESPN2 beginning at 3:00 PM (ET), while the Motor Racing Network (MRN) will carry the live radio broadcast.
