The Gecko Pulling Double Duty Tonight (and Keeping it in the Family)

Player Management International Media Release

Madison, IL (July 19, 2008) – The Gecko will be pulling double duty in the NASCAR world tonight when he shows up at two places at the same time.  GEICO will be keeping it in the family when they appear on both Mike Wallace’s #7 GEICO Camry at Gateway International Raceway and Chrissy Wallace’s #03 Toyota Tundra at Kentucky Speedway for the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series race.

Fresh off of her return trip from Los Angeles and the ESPY Awards, Chrissy Wallace opened up nicely in her 3rd career NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series event.  She sat 8th at the close of the opening practice session on Friday.  Dad did the same, as the #7 GEICO Camry shot straight to the top of the speed charts and sat 3rd in the first practice of the weekend.

While returning home to St. Louis is always special for Mike Wallace, Thursday night it became even more exciting. Wallace not only did ESPN’s NASCAR Now live from Busch Stadium, but he also threw out the first pitch to kick off the game between the St. Louis Cardinals and the San Diego Padres.

While he probably will not ditch his day job as a race car driver, he was nevertheless impressed with the toss.

“I got it there and didn’t bounce it,” Wallace joked.  “Everybody kept telling me not to bounce it, so that was my focus.  What an incredible honor though.  It was a great experience for both myself and my son, Matt.”

When the green flag waves tonight, it is almost certain that both father and daughter will be thinking a lot about each other, but for now they are focused on putting GEICO in Victory Lane in two different cities on the same night.

NASCAR’s #2 series’ Missouri-Illinois Dodge Dealers 250 is tonight, July 19th, and it will be televised live on ESPN2 beginning at 9:00 PM (ET), while the Motor Racing Network (MRN) will carry the live radio broadcast.

The NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series race, the Built Ford Tough 225 presented by the Greater Cincinnati Ford Dealers is also tonight and it will be televised live on SPEED at 6:30 PM (ET), while the Motor Racing Network (MRN) will carry the live radio broadcast.
