Paul Tracy's options for racing in this month's Indianapolis 500 shrunk by one on Friday after Vision Racing confirmed that Davey Hamilton would fill the seat in the No. 22 car.
Vision, which is owned by IRL founder Tony George, had entered three cars for the May 25th race with regulars A.J. Foyt IV and Ed Carpenter taking up two seats.
George is believed to have previously offered Tracy an opportunity to race in the unified series with Vision but the Toronto racer has maintained he would like to join one of the top tier teams.
Four teams still have not confirmed their driver for the upcoming Indy 500 - Playa Del Racing, Penske Racing, Panther Racing and PDM Racing.
It was believed that Penske was holding the No. 77 entry open for former IRL champion Sam Hornish Jr. but he recently confirmed he will not attempt to race at Indianapolis this year.
Tracy does have a history with Penske, having driven for him in the former CART series.
Tracy has also been linked to a possible Indy entry with Walker Racing, however, that is dependent upon sufficient sponsorship being found.
Tracy competed last month in the Champ Car finale at Long Beach with Forsythe Racing. He and owner Gerald Forsythe agreed to work out a deal which would release him from his contract with the team following that race.
