Big Lots! California Post Race Release
Fontana, CA (February 26, 2007) Perseverance
was the word of the day for the No. 36 Big Lots! race team during
the Stater Bros. 300 at California Speedway.
After qualifying with a speed of 175.640 mph, Sherman would
line up on the inside of row 16, in 31st position next to Bobby
Hamilton, Jr. The team battled an ill-handling car all
race long but was still able to finish on the lead lap in 27th
position, and also pick up five extra championship points by
leading lap 124.
“We adjusted on the car all race but just could not
find the setup I was comfortable with.” Sherman said. “I
really have to give credit to this team, though. They hung
in there all day. We had a problem on pit road with the
left-rear hub, and they got it fixed and got me back out on the
track and we were able to get the ‘lucky dog’ pass
soon after to put us back on the lead lap.” Sherman
continued, “We did not have the finish we were looking
for, but it is races like this that build a team together and
I think that will help us down the road.”
Crew chief, Ricky Pearson said, “Brent’s lap times
were good and to endure the problems we had on pit road and the
way the car was handling, I am pleased with the way we ended
the race.” He continued, “We are moving in
the right direction and we have a good situation here.”
